Play Skills for Staff CPD Training – Incorporating the Benefits of Play into Practice and Delivery

Our Play Skills for Staff workshop is a unique session, which combines the benefits of play as a fun staff wellbeing activity with a skills session on delivery of games and exercises for pupils of all abilities

We have been increasingly asked how to incorporate play, and a playful approach, into the classroom and so we have developed this unique training to help you feel confident in bringing fun and games (and serious results) into your lessons.

Play skills for staff is an experiential training; You will be facilitated through a range of activities, and then have the opportunity to practice delivering games. You’ll be shown how to adapt activities to best suit the needs of your pupils/client group. At each point there will be opportunity for discussion, questions and reflection to ensure you feel confident to run each activity.

Having experienced being a participant learning new games and activities will naturally help you to be sensitive to the needs of the participants when you come to run the activities. This illustrates the rich, natural transferable skills inherent in the act of play itself.

Venue

We will come to you – a hall, classroom or meeting room cleared of desks/tables is suitable. All we need is a chair for each participant, a flip chart stand and some space to move around!

Duration of session

1½ – 2 hours depending on number of participants

Number of Participants

MAX 35 people. In order for everyone to get the most from a session and for our facilitator to offer you small group support as well as to the group as a whole, we limit our numbers for this workshop.

” Thank you Jess; I would like to note how many teachers and children were enjoying the games from your session in their new classes today “.

Ewan Marshall,
Head Teacher, Coldfall Primary School

What People Say

  • The session was very useful. It was great to learn about self-regulation (and self-awareness) of adults being required before we expect that from the children. Brilliant session, wish we could have more
