CPD Training – Incorporating the Benefits of Play into Practice and Delivery
Following on from our REACH in Schools Programme, we have been increasingly asked how to incorporate play, and a playful approach, into the classroom.
Our Play Skills for Staff workshop is a unique session, integrating the benefits of play for staff for their ongoing self-care and wellbeing into a skills session on delivery of games and exercises for pupils of all abilities.
This session contains an element of presentation, but in the main is experiential; Participants will be facilitated through a range of activities, and then have the opportunity to practice delivery of a wide range of games which they will be shown how to adapt to best suit the needs of the pupils/client group. At each point there will be opportunity for discussion, questions and reflection to ensure confidence.
Having been facilitated themselves, participants will also carry with them a natural empathy when they come to deliver the games, keeping to hand the range of emotions they experienced when learning a new activity, and helping to illustrate the rich, natural transferable skills inherent in the act of play itself.
We will come to you – a hall, classroom or meeting room cleared of desks/tables is suitable. All we need is a chair for each participant, a flip chart stand and some space to move around!
Duration of session
1½ – 2 hours depending on number of participants
Number of Participants
MAX 35 people. In order for all participants to get the most from a session and for a facilitator to offer small group support as well as to the group as a whole, we limit our numbers for this workshop.
