We offer two play workshops for children in schools: Play Ambassadors and Life and Social Skills
Play Ambassadors
Developing skills and supporting others through play
For many children, playtime is a coveted time of the school day. But for some, the unstructured nature of playtime can be daunting. Our Play Ambassadors programme works with up to 8 pupils from older year groups, training them to plan and deliver structured play activities during break and/or lunch time to children from the younger year groups over the course of 6 weeks.
Having older peers organise games during playtime can support emotional growth and teach valuable life skills for the older and younger children taking part. Participants will experience the rich and transferable skill set that play can offer, providing an opportunity for both facilitators and participants to benefit from mutual support, cooperation, learning – and fun!
What skills do these workshops encourage?
These workshops for children make use of creative arts and explore/encourage many skills which fit in with citizenship/PHSE agenda, such as:
Encouraging emotional literacy (EQ) – Moral identity – Communication skills – Confidence building –
Social responsibility (fairness, cooperation, working together for a greater good) – Presentation skills.
Workshop structure
We will work with the Play Ambassadors once per week for 6 consecutive weeks, planning, de-briefing and training, exploring facilitation skills and different elements of play. We ask the school to arrange suitable weekly times for the Ambassadors to run their activities (during playtime, circle time). Ambassadors receive a certificate of achievement at the end of the course.

Life and Social Skills
Workshops for children and young people in which we use drama activities and talking as a tool for developing self-esteem and confidence.
Helping children to find their confidence
For some children, school life can be challenging, or overwhelming. We have designed these sessions to help children to make the most of their time at school by giving them space to reflect and interact in a different context.
Workshops are tailored to the specific needs of the members of each group. This includes for example children with attention or behaviour challenges, children who find it hard to integrate or are shy, or children with ESOL.
Workshop themes
Using a series of games and drama-based exercises, these workshops focus on different themes relevant to children’s lives. They offer a safe space to explore and express their feelings about important and everyday events in their lives.
Themes can include: coping with conflict, communication, bullying, emotional health, exploring status.
We will explore these themes through discussion, improvisation, storytelling, vocal exercises, movement and games.
What skills do these workshops encourage?
The workshops are designed to be fun, challenging and thought-provoking. Participants develop skills that are naturally transferable social skills, such as listening, co-operating and supporting others, self and spacial awareness. As a result, this can impact positively on their interactions in the classroom and the outside world, thus boosting self-esteem and confidence.
Workshop structure
Our workshops can be tailored in length, to fit in with school lesson times.
The sessions can run in blocks (for example 6 weeks or a term). This means several groups are able to participate over the course of a school year and ensures that pupils do not miss out on a substantial amount of school work. Alternatively, we can also run workshops on a longer term basis.
Our Life and Social Skills Workshops are most appropriate for small groups (maximum 6-8).
